Guru Gobind Singh Ji is said to be the creator of this instrument named 'taus'. Taus is the Persian word for Peacock. The Taus is a blend of sarangi and sitar, well-known classical Indian instrument. It has a long tail which serves the purpose of the finger board, upon which nineteen metal frets, elliptical in shape, are tied with cotton or silken cord.
